I experienced some of the same complications. I had taken Byetta for about 2 years when on May 12, 2007, Mother's Day, I became ill and experienced excruciating pain in the right side of my abdomen. I went to the Emergency room and had CT Scans and Ultrasounds done to discover that my gall bladder was inflamed at 3 times its normal size and filled with hundreds of gall stones. A drain was inserted into my gall bladder to drain the excess fluid. I was required to collect the fluid from the drainage for 4 weeks. However, my gall bladder continued to smell, so on June 20, 2007 I had surgery to remove my gall bladder. Laparoscopic removal of my gall bladder was not possible due to excessive amount of "scar" tissue around my gall bladder, so I had a 10" incision to remove my gall bladder and I was hospitalized for 5 days. It took 4 to 6 months for all the abdominal pain to stop. I was unable to work or earn an income during this time. I was forced to close 3 businesses and lay-off all of my staff.

I started to take Byetta in July 2006 and even though I had side effects of abdomen pain my doctor suggested I to continue to take the medication. In October 2007 I had to stop taken the medication Byetta because of how severe the pain was getting in my abdomen and even though I stop taken Byetta I continued to have pain in my abdomen after eating.

I May 2008 I as hospitalized with my first Pancreatitis which at that time they removed my gallbladder, I was in the hospital for about a week. Just about a month later in late June 2008 I suffered my second Pancreatitis and this time they thought it was from a gallstone left on one of the by-o-ducts BUT they never found the stove. I had a number of complications and went with eating for around 2 weeks and they started my back on liquids then very soft foods but with in 2 days I suffered my third Pancreatitis and this time there was complications of internal bleeding. I had to receive 2 units of blood and stay in the hospital for another 2 weeks for a total of 3 weeks for that stay, I was sent home to recover with out eating and was receiving TPN IV's for over 3 months, I went over 110 days with eating any food.

In September 2008 I was re-hospitalized again with more complications, this time due to I became allergic to Heparin which made me severely ill and brought my blood counts down under 40.
It took them around 2 weeks to get all my blood counts back in order and brought in a doctor from UIC to review my case and he suggested that I should have an abdomen operation to remove all the junk around my pancreas and all the fluids that was in my abdomen and went under that operation on October 1st which due to bleeding I needed another 4 units of blood (for a total between June 2008 and October 2008 I had to receive a total of 14 units of blood due to interning bleeding).

I was released after 6 weeks to again go home to recover without eating, this time I went around 4 weeks without eating and again when I started I suffered my forth Pancreatitis so again they had me stop eating.
When I was home recovering I of court was brought back into the hospital for test, CT scans, Sinograms, X-Rays, etc. and on October 30 I went in for another CT scan and this time that saw I now I had a very large absences and I was again hospitalized for a day in a half to install a drain tub in my right abdomen so do date I have 2 drain tubs in my abdomen one in on my left side since October 1st 2008 the date of the operation and one in my right side from October 30th 2008, they are both still draining and I forgot to stat I had another tub in my right side to drain fluids which they drain OVER 6 liters before removing it.
I of course was on a medical STD from my work which now of course I went out of the maximum of 6 months and had to apply for LTD medical benefits which I was approved but of course part of the LDT policy I basically lost my employment and this took place all this last week and I am still home not eating at solid food and looking to go into the UIC hospital sometime next week for more test on my pancreas this time looking at the ducts! This will be completed by a specialist Dr. Brown form UIC which specializes in Pancreas.

We are at the end of our rope, we are way behind on bills and to file chapter 13 to try to save our house which I am almost 2 months behind, since May 2008 to present I have been in the hospital for over 11 weeks and current incurred over $800,000 in medical bills.

Thanks you for your time,
